Island of Anguilla– The Ruben Brown Foundation and the Island of Anguilla are proud to announce Ruben Brown’s Anguilla Classic at a press conference on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at Temenos Golf Club (10:00am). Sponsors, golf fanatics and celebrities will have the chance to tee off together at Temenos Golf Club (a Greg Norman designed course). The event is to benefit the construction of the Anguilla Youth Sports Complex. This complex will be geared to create new athletic opportunities and energize the youth of Anguilla.
During Superbowl weekend, Ruben Brown will be hosting a superbowl party at Cap Juluca on Sunday February 6,2011. Also, Ruben and his foundation will be kicking off a nation-wide clean up on the island of Anguilla in preparation to the first annual Ruben Brown Anguilla Classic (April 7- April 11, 2011). The tournament itself will take place on April 9 while other events, including a welcoming luncheon and boat race, and a VIP reception and Auction.
Ruben Brown’s Anguilla Classic is the most recent undertaking for Brown. He is working with Thomas Kelly and Thomas McNerney and the New York-based event management and PR firm, KC You There, LLC. on coordinating the event. Tremendous support for the event is already being shown as national media outlets are expected to be in attendance. In addition, several current and Hall of Fame athletes plus numerous entertainers will also be on hand to participate in this unique event.
Ruben Brown was a four-time All-Pro and nine-time Pro Bowl guard for the NFL’s Buffalo Bills and Chicago Bears. Brown’s career began in 1995 with Buffalo and he remained with the Bills until 2003. His time in Chicago lasted from 2004-2007. In 2001, Brown began the Ruben Brown Foundation, providing assistance to charities and community organizations that focus on the development of youth through athletics, cultural and educational programs. A number of these programs include camps, mentoring, scholarships and ‘in time of need’ services that collect food and clothing as well as providing shelter to those less fortunate.
The Ruben Brown Foundation has raised over $500,000 towards youth programs throughout the years and has no sign of slowing down just like Ruben during his 13 years in the NFL.
