DIY Entertaining: Super Bowl Edition

Just because it’s a sporting event, doesn’t mean you should steer away from decor presentation. We’ve thought of these simple DIY projects that will not only make you look like ‘Suzy Homemaker,’ it will step up your Super Bowl game.

The DIY ‘snack-mat’

It’s up to you how long or short you decide to make the snack-mat. We recommend purchasing a 12×6 piece of astro-turf (can be found at Home Depot), this will allow you to simply cut (box cutter works best) the pieces you’d like to use or cover an entire dining table. You’ll cut strands of white masking tape that will work as your 10 ‘yard lines’ (tip: one whole piece of masking tape can be cut into 4 lines) and either use number stickers ($3) or a number cutter as your field numbers. If using paper numbers, you can either use Mod Podge or a hot glue-gun to stick them on. Place your treats and sweets and you have one stlyin’ snack-mat.

Jalapeno Popper Dip
Super Bowl weekend is not complete without all of our favorite dips. There will surely be the usual suspects: Buffalo Chicken Wing Dip, 7 Layer Taco Dip, French Onion chip dip… These are all winners, and no doubt will bring cheers.
BUT the piece de resistance for your Super Bowl party this Sunday will surely be this fabulous jalapeno popper dip! This dip is so easy to make, you will be proud of yourself for fixing it for your friends while you watch it disappear before halftime! (After all, whether you plan on serving chili or pizza, you want your appetizers to be eaten before your main course is served in between halves!)

What you need:
12 oz chopped jalapenos

 1 can minced green chiles
8 oz package cream cheese, room temperature
1 cup cottage cheese
 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (+ ½  cups)
¼ cup bread crumbs
1 Tablespoon dried oregano

Mix ingredients and add to an oven safe pan sprayed with non-stick spray. Sprinkle top of mixture with remaining cheese and ½ cup bread crumbs.

Bake 400° for 20 mins or until bubbly.
Serve with chips or crackers!
