Halloween DIY Live on CW’s Winging It! Buffalo Style

Halloween is creeping up and we’ve got the best DIY’s for an easy Halloween party or craft night! Watch Karina & Erin live on the CW’s Winging It! Buffalo Style here.

Glitter Chevron Pumpkin

What you’ll need:

  • Small-Medium Pumpkin
  • Painters tape/masking tape
  • Glitter
  • Mod Podge
  • Scissors
  • Sponge applicator/paint brush

Cut tape into evenly sized sections and apply in two rows.
Apply Mod Podge with sponge applicator or paint brush and generously sprinkle glitter. Let dry overnight and carefully peel off tape. You can touch up using a q-tip and Mod Podge and reapply glitter in any spaces that need filling.

Alternatively, you could do a solid glitter pumpkin that’s very simple!

Pumpkin Cooler

This is an easy DIY that will be sure to impress your guests! Just cut off the top of the pumpkin and scoop, fill with ice and beverages.

Glitter Pumpkin Coasters

These are a great addition to any party, for other holidays you can simply swap out the shape and color. What you’ll need:

  • Pumpkin cutouts (We found ours at AC Moore)
  • Glitter adhesive paper
  • X-acto knife

Simply trace and cutout the pumpkin shape using an X-acto knife. The glitter paper is adhesive, so peel off and place on the wooden pumpkin!

Hostess Gift

We decided on these super cute, mini skulls by Martha Stewart that split in half. So here’s what you’ll need:

  • Mini cardboard skulls
  • Glitter
  • Mode Podge
  • Sponge applicator/paint brush
  • Candy – Remember, this lil’ guy is a gift for your hostess. She can use the skull as Halloween decor and open it up for a little personal treat.

What We Wore:

Erin: Top: Zara; Pants: Calvin Klein; Boots: Sam Edelman;

Jewelry: Sorrelli

Karina: Wrap dress: Old Navy; Booties: Steve Madden;

Chunky bracelet: H&M

Olympic Party | Live on CW’s Winging it! Buffalo Style

In spirit of the Olympic games, Erin joined Winging it! Buffalo Style on the CW to share how to host an Olympic themed party! You can view the segment here.

I chose to do an Olympic party focused on the colors of the rings. This would also be a great time to show your American pride, and reuse your Memorial Day & Fourth of July decorations! Another idea is to create a potluck where people bring different food and beverages from around the world (Greek hummus, Red Stripe beer, etc.)

Olympic Party layout

Make your own Olympic torches with a mini tiki torch, some spray paint, and tissue paper

Create fun snacks for the kids with ring tosses-you can later take them to play games & award medals

Award your winners a gold medal, DIY with gold cupcake foils and ribbon

Create a flag like banner with paint chips

DIY S’mores Bar | Live Segment on CW’s Winging It! Buffalo Style

There’s nothing KC You There loves more than a good dessert table, as seen on our Easter Entertainment piece for Shecky’s. Erin joined Winging It! Buffalo Style for their camp week and turned the dessert table a little more rustic. View the segment here.

S’mores Bar

Smore’s bars have been popping up every where this season, especially in rustic weddings. This is a great way to incorporate a little DIY and outdoor fun into your reception. If you’re camping, it’s a great way to “glamp” up your campsite.

What you’ll need:

What you’ll need: S’mores Bar

  • Chocolate bars (classic Hershey’s or Ghiradelli’s filled bars do the trick)
  • Graham crackers (experiment with new flavors like chocolate, found at specialty chocolate shops)
  • Marshmallows (Regular will do, but did you know there’s flavored marshmallows, too? Here’s a DIY recipe)
  • Sliced fruit (I used bananas and strawberries)
  • Candies (Reeses, Heath bars, etc..)
  • Roasting sticks (I used shish kabob sticks, purchased at Wegmans)

In a hurry? Make these chocolate dipped marshmallow pops in a few minutes. Just double boil chocolate in a pan, dip marshmallow using a skewer, let set about 30 seconds, then dip into your toppings of choice! The possibilities are endless. I used coconut, peanuts, and sprinkles.

It’s all in the details

Give your guests a take home treat with personalized s’more jars

The finishing touches are all in the detail. Add depth to your dessert table by adding textures and different heights using risers. I used tree trunks and a cigar box. Create centerpieces or nameplates with something guests can take home, like s’mores in a mason jar. A burlap runner or tablecloth can instantly create a rustic feel.

Glamp on!
