WWMD? Fall Trends {Part Dos}

Last week, we started the Fall/Winter Trend Guide and now we are wrapping up the clothing trends that caught my eye. There are plenty that I didn’t include like Winter White, Jumpsuits, High Slits, and the list goes on. This doesn’t mean I’m not a fan of the trends; I just wanted to hit the major ones not to say these other trends weren’t big on the runway. So get your wallets ready and remember this is inspiration for most of our wallets. So be sure to go to Zara or H&M and they will have budget friendly options.

Comic Book/Sci Fi Fantasy

I combined the two because they intersect one another but this trend can definitely give praise to the inner nerd in us all or we can just admit that its due to the notoriously attractive stars who are playing the comic book heroes in movies.
FW '12-13 Trend: Comic Book/ Sci-Fi Fantasy

Jewel Tone

Can’t afford the real jewels of Sapphire, Emerald, etc.? Well you can always incorporate these colors in your Fall/Winter wardrobe. Like I stated before with Emerald, these are colors that can complement anyone.

FW '12-13 Trend: Jewel Tone

The term baroque originated in Italy, which refers to exaggerated motion and drama for a passionate and sensual appeal (Thank you, Anthony Bourdain for this comment during S1:E7). This trend is one I definitely love and gives me another season where I can wear my Thread Social shorts.

FW '12-13 Trend: Baroque

Taking a cue from the men in our life, this trend is often popular and emerges every few seasons. Plus we all know women might look a tad bit better in tweed or houndstooth print clothing.

FW '12-13 Trend: Menswear

A design element that is figure flattering from the skinny minnie to those who are as bootylicious as Beyonce. Also, I’m a fan of this trend because it slightly alludes to the days when there was a little bit more elegance to getting dressed for the day.

FW '12-13 Trend: Peplum

This wraps up the clothing trend guide and now we move onto accessories, which is where you should REALLY invest your money. Accessories often get more use than clothes especially with shoes and purses so hopefully you’ll see something next week with my picks that you’ll want to invest in.

WWMD? Fall Trends {Part I}

It’s still August but if you’re like me then you have already started your Pre-Fall shopping. I just want to say Thank Jesus for the Nordstrom Anniversary sale although I did have to hide the items in my closet to stop the temptation of wanting to wear fall items in the 90+ degree. I figure I would highlight the great trends for the F/W season and pick the best items after scouring the websites ranging from Barneys to Shop bop. Okay, I will admit 97.9% of the items are probably out of the budget for most people but that’s the perks of having stores like Topshop, Zara or H&M, you know they will have a “inspired” piece by the time fall is in full swing. So here we gooooo

From florals to geometric patterns, there was something for the bold and beautiful and those that become timid at the thought of wearing a print. Glad to see this trend so prominent on the runways from New York to Paris.

FW 12'-13 Trend: Prints

1. Mary Katrantzou Peony Print Silk Skirt | 2. M Missoni Green Blue Dress | 3. Yigal Azrouel Ikat Floral Silk Pants  | 4. Jonathan Saunders Sleeveless Blouse | 5. Ports 1961 Mosaic Dress | 6. Diesel Black Gold Dhano Sweatshirt | 7. Dolce & Gabbana Hand Painted Dress | 8. Etro Floral Print Blouse

In the fashion world, Gothic refers to the heavy use of dark colors and combination of leather, lace, and velvet. The Gothic look seen on the runways can be interpreted as a dark romance.

FW 12'-13 Trend: Gothic

1. Stella McCartney Guipure Lace Skirt | 2. Azzedine Alaia Velvet Dress | 3. Emilio Pucci Lace Top | 4. Carven Velvet Cap-Sleeve Dress | 5. Stella McCartney Print Silk Dress | 6. Tibi Black Leather Collar Macrame Top | 7. Zoe Jordan Margaret Leather & Lace Dress | 8. Red Valentino Lace Tie Waist Dress

Whether it was faux or real leather a great portion of designers made to sure include this in their line-up. We all know I’m a huge fan of leather in general so I definitely couldn’t contain my excitement when this was a major Fall/Winter trend.

FW '12-13 Trend: Leather

1. Alexander Wang Croc-effect Leather Skirt | 2. Givenchy Lamb Leather Manches Top | 3. H&M Leather Jacket | 4. The Row Tercus Leather Leggings | 5. Alexander Wang Pleated Leather Top | 6. YSL Leather & Stretch Wool Crepe Dress | 7. Cushnie et Ochs Croc Leather Skirt | 8.  Sanctuary Vegan Leather Shift Dress | 9. Hinge Faux Leather Collar Top

Dress uniforms in the military are often some of the best designs you can ever see on a woman or man. The pride those in the various military branches have is something you can’t help but admire too. So it is no surprise designers were inspired by those men and women.

FW '12-13 Trend: Military

1. Bllack Noir Military Leather Jacket | 2. Current/Elliot Combat Skinny Jeans | 3. Givenchy Sleeveless Scoopneck Dress | 4. Rachel Zoe Military Jacket | 5. Karl Camo Print Blouse | 6. Burberry London Canvas Double Breasted Dress | 7. Zara Camo Pants with Zippers | 8. Acne Rita Leather Jacket

Asian Elegance

The inspiration behind this trend takes on the patterns and prints seen in traditional Asian clothing and other items. Not surprised to see this trend pop up due to the opulence of inspiration Asian countries in the world offer.

FW '12-13 Trend: Asian Inspired

1. Marni Oriental Flower Print Dress | 2. ISSA Printed Kimono Mini Dress | 3. Dries Van Noten Shirt Dress | 4. Proenza Schouler Japanese Print Shirt | 5. Top Shop Oriental Flower Cigarette Trousers | 6. Dries Van Noten Silk Top | 7.  Proenza Schouler Japanese Print Dress

Don’t worry, this isn’t the end of my F/W Trend Guide, there is plenty more trends to go through and drool at what pieces I have selected.

Fall 2012 Nail Trends

Another season, another fancy manicure. Fall 2012’s nail trends go from one extreme to another. Rich, deep lacquers to iridescent nudes are forecasted to dominate the runways, magazine spreads and Pinterest boards in the coming months.

Let’s see a roundup of the trends.

  1. I’m Ron BURGUNDY – Classic, deep burgundy shades are sultry and beckon the leaves to change. Pictured: Wet n Wild Megalast Haze of Love
  2. Deep Blue Sea – Rich navy and teal shades are stirring up the storms. Pictured: OPI Ski Teal We Drop
  3. Mirrored – I doubt these rockstar nails will replace my trusty Les Tais Tais Model Mirror, but I’m ok with adding an extra, healthy, 10-digit dose of mirror exposure in my life. Get yourself a Minx manicure or play around with some nail tattoos and press-ons for this rockstar look. Pictured: Elegant Touch Metallic Nails in Molten Silver
  4. The New Nudes – Pearlized pale shades are taking manicures to the other extreme. Barely there “mannequin” nails are perfectly polished and oh so on trend. Pictured: Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Parchment (limited edition).
  5. Mix and Match French – Using the above trends to play around with the classic French manicure. A pearly, nude base is preferred with a pop of a rich, dark shade on the tip. Pictured: Sally Hansen Salon Manicure in Parchment (base), Wet n Wild Megalast in Haze of Love (tip)

Check out the last collections of my favorite brands: OPI Germany and Essie Yogaga.

Time for a girl’s night mani & pedi party!
